Baden Torrefacao de Cafes is a café that feels deeply rooted in Porto Alegre’s Passo d'Areia neighborhood, known for its carefully crafted coffee and a laid-back atmosphere that attracts both locals looking for a quality caffeine fix and coffee enthusiasts keen on specialty brews. With its location on R. Azevedo Sodré, it’s the kind of place that suits lazy weekday mornings or early afternoons when the light filters softly through the windows, complementing the café's retro vibe.

The focus here is unmistakably on coffee quality—Baden takes pride in sourcing beans directly from Minas and maintaining a close connection with the producers, which shows in the complexity and clarity of the flavors they serve. Whether you prefer a filtered V60 pour-over or an intense ristretto, the care in preparation translates into a smooth, balanced cup every time. Their espresso-based drinks, like the cappuccino and cortado, get particular attention, crafted with precision and creaminess that stand out among local options.

The menu also pairs well with the drinks, especially savory items like the focaccia with gorgonzola and red onion, a flaky, flavorful choice that complements the coffee without overpowering it. For something sweeter, the daily cake slice—such as the memorable orange or cornmeal cake—draws in regulars who appreciate a simple but satisfying treat alongside their drink.

Inside, the atmosphere maintains a relaxed and friendly feel, with staff known for being both professional and genuinely welcoming. While the space embraces a retro style, which adds character, parking can be a challenge, so visitors often plan their trip accordingly. The café feels like a local hub where weekday routines meet moments of indulgence, and you’ll likely find a mix of regulars and newcomers savoring their cups over conversations or quiet moments with a book.

O capuccino é uma delícia. A torrada é sensacional e tem uma torta de nozes que não dá para esquecer. É o tipo de lugar que deixa a gente feliz!

I'm a huge fan of Baden. Every year they go to the farms in Minas, to visit the coffee producers. This attitude impress me because they are worried about the quality of the coffee they sell - the taste of the coffee is marvelous. Their coffee is just simple the best in the town.

Baita cafeteria! Um achado em POA, opções excelentes de café, ambiente super descontraído e o atendimento impecável! Todos que trabalham lá são super gente boa e entendem demais!! Recomendo.

Cafeteria bacana, com estilo retro proprio… Mas o café de qualidade. So é ruim pra estacionar. Cappuccino super bem feito. Valeu a experiência.
